What are atropine eye drops?

Low-dose atropine is a medicated eye drop used to help slow the progression of myopia (nearsightedness) in children.

It works by slightly relaxing the eye’s focusing system. This small change has been shown to reduce how quickly myopia can worsen over time. The drops are typically used once per day, usually at bedtime.

How do atropine eye drops help?

Research shows that low-dose atropine can be effective in reducing the rate of myopia progression in many children.
Your eye care provider will determine the correct dosage and monitor your child’s response over time.

Is my child a good candidate?

Only your eye care provider can determine that.

Atropine may be recommended for children whose nearsightedness is actively worsening or who need additional support as part of a myopia management plan.
